Il 28 agosto Tufara celebra con profonda devozione il suo patrono, San Giovanni Eremita, figura spirituale nata proprio in questo borgo e proclamata santo nel 1221. La giornata unisce momenti religiosi e comunitari, rinnovando un legame che attraversa i secoli.
Il cuore della festa è rappresentato dalla solenne processione con la reliquia del braccio del santo, custodita gelosamente dalla comunità e portata per le vie del paese tra canti e preghiere. Le celebrazioni religiose sono affiancate da iniziative civili, incontri e momenti di festa che coinvolgono residenti ed emigrati di ritorno.
La ricorrenza del 28 agosto non è soltanto un appuntamento liturgico, ma un’occasione di identità e appartenenza, in cui Tufara riafferma la propria storia e la devozione verso il santo eremita, patrono del paese e dell’intera Valle del Fortore.
